"Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God" (Mt 5:8)

The preaching of Jesus opens with the Sermon on the Mount. Before the Lake of Tiberias on a hill near Capernaum, sitting as the masters used to do, Jesus announces to the crowd the man of the beatitudes. Repeatedly echoed in the Old Testament the word "blessed" and that is the exaltation of the person who carried, in various ways, the Word of God.
The Beatitudes of Jesus echoed some of what the disciples already knew, but for the first time they felt that the pure of heart, not only, as he sang the psalm, were worthy to climb the mountain of the Lord, but even they could see what God was, therefore, that purity so high as to merit so much? Jesus would have said several times during his preaching. Let us therefore to follow him to the source of authentic purity.

First, according to Jesus, there is a way of cleansing the sovereign: "You are already clean because of the word that I spoke." I am not so exercise rituals to purify the soul, but his word. The Word of Jesus is not like human words. In it, Christ is present, as in some other way, is present in the Eucharist. For her, Christ enters into us and as long as we leave work, makes us free from sin and so pure of heart.
So purity is the result of living the Word of all those words of Jesus that frees us from the so-called attachments, in which necessarily falls, if you do not have the heart to God and his teachings. They may cover things, the creatures themselves. But if the heart is focused on God alone, everything else falls.
To succeed in this undertaking, may be useful during the day, repeat to Jesus, God, the invocation of the Psalm that says, "You, Lord, my only good!" . Let us repeat it often, especially when the various attachments would drag our hearts to those images, feelings and passions that can blur the vision of good and take away our freedom.
We tend to look at some billboards, to follow certain television programs? No, let us tell him: "You, Lord, my only good" and this will be the first step that will take us out of ourselves, re-declaring our love for God and so we purchased alone.
We feel at times that a person or activity is encountered, as a barrier between us and God and pollute our relationship with Him? It 's time to say: "You are you, Lord, my only good." This will help us to purify our intentions and to find inner freedom.

The Word lived makes us free and because it is pure love. And 'love purifies with its divine fire, our intentions and all our hearts, because the "heart" of the Bible is the most profound intellect and will. But there is a love that Jesus commands us and allows us to experience this bliss. E 'mutual love, who is ready to give his life for others, following the example of Jesus, it creates a current, an exchange, an atmosphere whose dominant note is its transparency, purity, for presence of God, who alone can create in us a clean heart. E 'living the mutual love that the Word works with its effects purification and sanctification.
The isolated individual is unable to withstand the stresses along the world, love for one another while the environment is healthy, able to protect its purity and all its authentic Christian life.

And here is the result of this purity, always regained: you can "see" God, that is to understand its action in our lives and history, hear his voice in my heart, to take its presence where it is: in the poor, the Eucharist, in his Word, the fellowship, in the Church. It 's a foretaste of God's presence that begins already in this life "walking by faith and not by sight" until "we shall see face to face forever.
